Laut Tawar Lake, Lut Tawar Lake, is a lake located in the Gayo Highlands, on the east side of Takengon city, Central Aceh Regency, Aceh. Its area is approximately 5,472 hectares, with a water volume of 2,537,483,884 m³. There are 25 krueng streams that flow into Laut Tawar Lake. 46 types of plankton, 3 types of molluscs, 1 type of annelid, 37 types of fish, and 49 types of insects were found living in the Laut Tawar Lake. The depik fish (Rasbora tawarensis) is a typical fish of Laut Tawar Lake which is threatened with extinction.
