Belitung or Belitong has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark after previously being a national geopark. Belitung Geopark was designated as a UNESCO Global Geoparks on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Belitong Geopark is located in Belitung Island, Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province, approximately 400 km to the North of Jakarta, or 500 km to the South of Singapore.
